Gators & Friends - Part One

Gators and Friends; Alligator Park and Exotic Zoo is where we went on Saturday, October 1st which was the best weekend to go. As we were paying the admission ($7.95 for adults and $5.95 kids; 2 and under free), we asked if they would be feeding the large alligators today and the lady told us that this would be the last day to feed them until next year! Wow! Did we get lucky? Plus, I never knew that large alligators didn't eat in the winter.

It took us about an hour to get to this place and the first thing we saw were the large alligators. Beck was fascinated with them!

To the right of the large alligators were the regular/small alligators in a green pond and we had 20 minutes to kill before they were fed so we checked out some of the exotic animals. We purchased a large cup of animal food for $2 and Beck let the first animal eat all of it! Our cup didn't last very long. Brent and I enjoyed seeing him get so excited feeding the deer.

We saw a lot of goats, a kangaroo jumping around and a large camel.

We also saw two porcupines, two baby camels and several llamas. Actually, one llama tried to spit on Brent! Then, Brent tried to get him to spit again but the llama wouldn't.

Now it's time to feed the regular alligators. The young man brought out a big bucket full of what looked like large dog food and started beating the side of it to round up the alligators. Beck was in awe of the whole feeding frenzy.

After the alligators had been fed, we stood in a long time to get a picture of the kids with a baby alligator. We decided that Brent would sit with them first and Beck told us that he did not want to hold the alligator. I like how Beck is petting the baby alligator like it's a dog.

I obviously did not think this through because I shrieked when the guy put the alligator in my hands! Eww! It felt like my pointer finger was in a wet hole and that totally wigged me out!

It was lunch time and luckily this place has a little eating place but they were super slow! I think it took 45 minutes to get our food! I had to break this up into two parts because we took SO many pictures! (To be continued...)
