Week Three

This is week three of recovery and my sweet mother-in-law offered to stay with us a couple of nights to help out. Plus, Mrs. Linda is off this week so Marcus stayed with us while Jeff and Jill are at work. Kiki took Beck to the park and to the book store and he sure enjoyed getting out of the house. Fortunately for me, Brent's boss was out of town so he was able to take 2-hour lunch breaks to help me out on Thursday and Friday.

We gave Kinsey a bath in her tub for the first time Wednesday night and she enjoyed it. I enjoy putting cute clothes on Kinsey and taking lots of pictures. Enjoy!

4th of July Weekend - Part Two

The next morning, we took off to Henderson to spend the day with Nana, Stephen and Wendy. While Nana cooked lunch, Beck and I went to Stephen's shop and he found a big truck to carry around. He also enjoyed pushing the cart around. After we ate lunch, Wendy took Beck to the creek while I fed Kinsey. Afterwards, Kinsey and I checked on them and as soon as we walked down there, it started raining! Beck loved it! Poor Kinsey got a few rain drops on her but she didn't mind. That evening we gave Kinsey her first bath in the sink. She does well getting a bath...I've noticed that she likes hearing the water run. Monday morning, we loaded up and headed back home and both kids slept for the most part of the 2 hour drive.

4th of July Weekend - Part One

Leading up to the 4th of July weekend, Brent and I were able to spend bonding time with Kinsey while Beck spent the week with Pops and Kiki. He had so much fun and I was able to take it easy so my body could heal. And, Brent and I got to watch the news instead of cartoons! My friend Tracy Moore Martinez came to the house to meet Kinsey and Kristen brought her girls, Madeline and Gabriella. She made a wonderful meal for us..lasagna, salad, garlic bread and the most delicious chocolate pie I've ever tasted! In fact, Brent and I ate half of it that night.

Since I can't lift anything heavy, such as the car seat, I decided to put Kinsey in the stroller Thursday morning and walk to the nearest shopping center which is 1.3 miles from my house and bought her a 4th of July dress. She slept the entire time except when we were in the cold store then she screamed so I had to shop super fast.

On Friday, I took Kinsey to the doctor for her 2-week check-up and she gained 1 pound in one week! She's 9 lbs 6.5 oz and 21 3/4" long. She got her first Heb B shot since we declined that one while at the hospital then I took her to the hospital across the street for a PKU test. They took blood from her foot and she cried the entire time then we headed to my doctor's office for my check-up. I can now lift things that weigh less than 24 lbs and my incision looks great!

B
rent was able to get off work early so we missed the rush hour traffic going to Gilmer which was very nice. We celebrated Nanny's 86th birthday Saturday evening and tried to watch the firework show but Beck got scared so Daddy gave him a bath while I nursed Kinsey.
Happy 4th of July!!!

First Family Weekend

Our first family weekend consisted of keeping Beck entertained, catching a nap when we can, Leigh and her kids came over Saturday night and we took our first family walk to the park Sunday evening.

Beck has been great overall but he does have his moments of jealousy and frustration when mommy is feeding Kinsey and he wants me to get up to do something. That's when he says, "Mommy, put it down!" We can also tell he's frustrated because he has started chewing on his fingers to the point that he now has a blister so we have reverted back to giving him the pacifier. We'd rather he chew on that then his fingers.

Kinsey's pouty face...
Beck loves to give his sister lots of kisses! He also has to have his little trucks in hand at all times!! Even when he goes to bed!!!
This is Beck being a baby...
More pictures of Kinsey...Our walk to the park, Beck on the monkey bars and Brent trying to swing as high as he possibly can...

One Week Old

After Beck was born, I would take a picture of him sitting in his crib with the same stuffed animals each month so we could see how much he had changed then post the picture on his calendar. We recently looked at that calendar and it reminded me that I need to do the same for Kinsey so the search was on for this calendar. You'd think I was looking for the impossible as nobody had this calendar. Natalie's mom, Liz, bought the one I had for Beck so I knew it existed. I checked with every baby store, every craft store, book store, etc and finally found it at the Hallmark store.

Since Kinsey can't sit up on her own, I used a Boppy pillow to hold her up and posed her with a pink 2010 Princess bear. This will be the first picture in her calendar and the following pictures were taken on her blanket that matches her bedding.
