Kinsey - Day Four

Going Home!!!
We are thrilled to go home and not have nurses wake us up in the middle of the night.

There's no doubt that Kinsey has a healthy set of lungs and we can definitely tell when she's not happy. She was not happy being put in the car seat but quickly fell asleep.
On the way home, we stopped by the pharmacy to drop off my prescriptions for my pain pills and antibiotics then Brent wanted lunch from What-a-Burger. Once we got settled at home, I ate the chicken and dumplings that mom had cooked for us.Welcome Home Kinsey!!!

Kinsey - Day Three

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!
Brent and Beck came up to the hospital that morning and I had Brent's gift already there (thanks to Nana) and he was shocked. The kids gave him a pair of dress shoes for church, jeans and a handmade tile with Beck's hand print on it that says, "Daddy's Lil Helper".

That evening, the hospital served steak and lobster for dinner along with the most delicious chocolate cake. They do a celebratory dinner for all parent's the last night in the hospital. Kinsey watched us eat our awesome meal! What a great Father's Day!

Kinsey - Day Two

At this point, I still can't feel/move my right leg but hoping it comes back soon and I was told that I would get a liquid lunch if I could not keep my breakfast down. They gave me a bowl of oatmeal and yogurt. Brent, on the other hand, was served French Toast and I was SO jealous!!! I took a few bites of the oatmeal but got a feeling it might come back up so I quit eating it and asked for a bowl of fruit. They asked if I kept breakfast down and I had so I got a real meal for lunch...this is the first meal I've had since Thursday night.
Leigh came to the hospital with her kids (Natalie and Anderson) and Natalie came to meet Kinsey. That afternoon, Nana drove to Canton to meet my aunt Vickie and to get Wendy. Nana and Wendy spent the night with me to give Brent a break. Nana was a huge help that night since I was still in a lot of pain and I finally got feeling back in my leg that night.

Kinsey - After Birth

The c-section takes approximately 45 minutes...10 minutes to get the baby out and the rest of the time is spent working on the mom. After the procedure, I was rolled into a recovery area and they only allow the dad to be with the mom at this point but my sweet nurse made an exception and let mom in the room with Brent. After they monitored me for about an hour, I was rolled into my super sweet suite!!!

I'm watching Kinsey get her very first bath in our very nice room. Our neighbor (head of the maternity ward) hooked us up with the biggest suite! It had a flat screen television in front of my bed and another room with a couch (for Brent to sleep on) with a flat screen in that room.
After Beck's nap, Nana went to my house to relieve Jill then Jill headed to the hospital with Marcus to meet Kinsey. Jeff showed up that evening but I was in the sick phase so we didn't get a picture of him.
I know this is gross but we have to document Kinsey's first poop...
Nana brought Beck to the hospital that evening so he could meet his new sister and see Mommy and Daddy.
The first night was rough...she wanted to eat every 2 hours and I was so super sore. The nurses felt sorry for me as they saw Brent was totally passed out on the couch.
We received flowers from my office and Brent's office sent flowers with a cute little monkey for Beck.

Kinsey Faith Bishop - The Birth

Many thought I would never make it to the scheduled c-section date...June 18th. But the day is here and we are ready to meet our little angel. We had to be at the hospital at 10am so Nana stayed at home with Beck until Jill arrived at 11 then she headed to the hospital. Brent and I said a family prayer before walking into the hospital.
Before birth...
Getting close...the clock says 11:35...
B
rent being silly in his scrubs...
We walked into the operating room at 11:45 and mom showed up right before they took me. Brent was joking around with everybody trying to make me relax because I was very nervous. As Dr. Innes cauterized my last c-section scar, Brent told me that's what I would smell like if I were to get in a car accident and burn to death. The entire room cracked up laughing...they couldn't believe he said that!

Kinsey Faith Bishop was born at 12:26pm, weighing 8 lbs 13 oz, 20" long.

Final Touch

From the time we found out we were having a girl, I knew exactly what I wanted her room to look like then saw some curtains at a store and decided to make my own. I first found the fabric and bought it with a 40% off coupon from JoAnn Fabric store. I also knew I wanted a tassel to go along with it so I bought that at Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon. So far, I'm feeling really good about my idea but then I knew I had to learn how to operate the sewing machine that Brent bought for me which I dreaded. I waited until the very last minute but pulled it off thanks to Brent! He would get the machine threaded and I got the curtains cut, pinned and lined with a room darkening liner. The curtains are not perfect but at least I can say that I accomplished my goal.
There is a black bead with every tassel to add some bling.

Week Two with Beck - 39 Weeks Pregnant

I had big plans for Beck before Kinsey's arrival...I wanted to take him back to the movie theater to see Charlotte's Web, back to the library for more Rhyme Time and a trip to Spring Creek Farm but none of these things happened because I was in so much pain. Instead, we took the Trail Blazer to the car wash and got it cleaned up since mom will be driving Beck around in it while I'm at the hospital, went to the park but didn't stay long because of this heat and we made a trip to Wal-Mart to stock up on some food for Mom and Beck. My long-time friend Tracy Moore Martinez brought her daughter, Annalise, to our house for a visit (Annalise was born December 18 which means she and Kinsey will be exactly 6 months apart.) Beck was very sweet and gentle with her.
Mom arrived at our house Thursday afternoon so we made a quick trip to Sam Moon then ate dinner at La Hacienda for my last meal until who knows when...at 10pm, Brent and I made a trip to Wendy's for a Root Beer Frosty...yummy!
I sure enjoyed my time with my first born and I want him to know that I love him dearly!

Toddler Bed

I've read that you should make changes for a toddler several weeks before a new baby arrives but we did not do that and may pay the price for it down the road. One week before the big day, we converted Beck's bed into a toddler bed (he's 26 months old). He was so proud of his new bed!!! He immediately jumped in it and started covering himself with his blanket and surrounding himself with all of his stuffed animals. The first night was awesome...he slept in it until 7 am!!! He has not slept all night in his bed since then...What have we done!?!
