Friday Night Family Fun Night

06.22.12

The Boy Scouts caught a tremendous amount of fish so the Young Men organized a fish fry on this hot evening which is probably what kept people at home.  Luckily, for me, Stephen, Tiffany and their five kids were there.  I say that because Beck and Kinsey enjoy playing with their kids and I sure enjoyed having an adult conversation.

We brought a big white ball, a small pink ball and Beck's soccer ball which were all a huge hit with the kids!

We also brought a cooler filled with Propel and juice boxes...boy did we need them tonight!

The food is ready....let's bless it so we can eat!

One of my weaknesses is being a picky eater which frustrates many people in my life especially Brent but I have to say that the food tonight was oh-so-yummy.  Just thinking about it makes me wish I had a plate in front of me.  I can't get over how good it all tasted...even the tarter sauce!  A big thanks to the Boy Scouts for catching all of the catfish and another big thanks to the cooks!  I wish we could do this more often minus the heat.  We had some pretty sweaty kids tonight.

Pool Time!

Going to Kiki and Pops pool is a lot of fun now that Beck and Kinsey love getting in it!

And, finding a turtle in the pool is very amusing for the kids.  (Mommy would rather not swim with a turtle.)  Brent tried to give it some grass but the turtle tried to bite his fingers.  Yikes!  He put the turtle in the grass and it took off.

Beck is a very good swimmer in the crab float and Kinsey loves Daddy lifting her up.  By the way, the crab float is five years old and how I remember this is because we got it before Ava's first birthday.

Pretty soon the pool water will feel like bath water but it feels great right now.

Neena's New House

Neena and Stephen bought a house in Spring Hill and I love that it is small since they don't need a large house and this is the first time that we have lived this close to each other.  I'm so happy!

Beck immediately made himself at home!
neena's house

We had to go shopping because Neena needs EVERYTHING...new furniture, new towels, pots/pans, dishes, etc.  Today, she was on a mission to get new bedding for the master and guest bedroom.  To my surprise, she found the perfect comforter for both bedrooms at one store and they look gorgeous!  While shopping, Kinsey found some glasses she had to try on.  Looks like I need to buy her some glasses.

On another visit, Beck discovered Stephen's motorcycle helmet and thought it was Darth Vader's helmet!  This is the cutest Darth Vader I've ever seen!

Beck wanted to help Neena water her poor flowers that are trying to survive this horrid heat wave.  When we got in the car, my temperature said 115 degrees...wow, that's hot!!!  On the way home, it dropped down to 103 degrees.  It's going to be another hot summer!

Of course this makes me want a house too...someday...someday it will happen.

Wizard of Oz at the Library

06.20.12

The local library has a presentation every Wednesday at 2pm but today is the only time that it is being held at 10am.  I was sad that Beck wouldn't be able to see it but I was even more sad after seeing the performance because it was very entertaining.  This lady is from Dallas and she danced, sang a little, did some magic and asked a few of the kids in the audience to help by dressing up as some of the Wizard of Oz characters.  All eyes were on her at all times...even Kinsey's which nobody else has managed to do!  Beck's soccer friend, Avery, was also there and Kinsey sat on the floor next to her.  I told the librarian how much I enjoyed this lady's performance and she informed me that Beck's class would be at the library tomorrow for story time.  I was happy to hear that but I sure wish his class could have been at the library today.

Happy 2nd Birthday Kinsey!!!

06.18.12

At the last minute, we decided to invite Kiki, Pops, Neena, Stephen and Aunt Wendy to help us celebrate Kinsey's birthday.  I picked up Wendy Monday morning after dropping Beck off at pre-school and we did lots of shopping.  Not only did I have to buy Kinsey's birthday gifts but I also needed to find something for Beck because I knew he would be sad if he didn't get a present to open.  After looking at many stores, I finally remembered the dump truck that he wanted last week.  Kinsey was a trooper during our shopping spree.

After lunch, I picked Beck up and took him to the library to see a movie we had not seen yet called Hop.  At one point, Beck told me the movie is long which means he was either bored or tired or a combination of both.  He is also part of the summer reading program and he can pick out a prize for every two hours of reading.  The prize he picked today is a water filled frog.  He loves this new toy!!!

Then, we picked up the birthday cake, a couple of helium balloons and a dozen balloons that I blew up.  We ate dinner then waited for the party to begin.

Just as I suspected, Beck was super sad when he saw Kinsey's birthday gifts on the table.

We finally busted out the new growth chart that I had made for Kinsey.  She is 3' tall at two-years old which means she could possibly be a 6' tall woman.

Then, it was time to open the gifts...Neena got the cutest personalized sign made for Kinsey's room.

And this little boy was SO SUPER HAPPY when he opened his gift.  The dump truck was a big hit with Beck!

Kinsey was so upset when we sang Happy Birthday to her...she was scared.  However, she devoured her cake once she calmed down.

After everybody left, Kinsey wanted to try on all of her new clothes while Daddy put together her new pink trike.  It was really cute to watch the two of them push each other.  By the way, Kinsey did a lot more pushing.

But, when she did get to ride it, she rode it in style!

What a fun night!  We look forward to celebrating Kinsey's birthday with her cousins in a few weeks.  Happy Birthday to our sweet little princess!

Happy Father's Day!!!

06.17.12

Breakfast of champions...pancakes and sausage balls!
fathers day

Beck made the cutest Father's Day gift at school!  Mrs. Mason dressed Beck in a man's hat, jacket and dress shoes and took a picture of him.  At the bottom of the picture it says, "Happy Father's Day" then she put it in a frame.  Then, he decorated the bag for the framed picture.  I loved it and Brent proudly put it on his desk at work!

Since tomorrow is Kinsey's second birthday, she wore the birthday dress I got her three months ago to church!

What a great Father's Day weekend!  And, this is the first time I've sent my dad a card.  I put a picture in the card of my sweet family.  I hope he liked it.

Father's Day Eve

06.16.12

Today was a VERY yucky rainy day which means we had to find something fun to do indoors and I knew just the place...welcome to Kid's Station!  This place is like a giant jungle gym with coin operated games which is Beck's favorite thing to do!  And, he especially loves collecting tickets!!!  I think we ended up with a little over 100 tickets which was enough to get both of them little toy airplanes and two snakes!  The only reason Kinsey wanted a snake is because Beck got one.

This place requires all kids to wear socks but once we took Kinsey's socks off, she was going up and down all of the tunnels!

We ate lunch at McDonald's and it seemed like they were training every single person in this place...it was the craziest experience we've ever had at McD's!  I thought I could eat a hot fudge sundae while the kids played but Kinsey decided she would rather eat my sundae and then Beck decided he wanted ice cream.  After our very long visit at McD's, we finally made it out of there.
saturday night11

For dinner, we took Pops and Kiki to a Mexican restaurant on the square for Father's Day and it was another terrible experience.  The host was also our waiter which didn't really matter since there was only one other table that he had to serve besides us.  (I'm not sure how this place stays open with only two tables filled on a Saturday night.)  He didn't bring us chips and salsa until Brent asked for it and that's also when our food came out.  He knew the plates were hot but yet he handed me mine and I would have dropped it because it was smokin' hot but then the dropped plate would have landed in front if Kinsey!!!  I quickly grabbed a piece of ice and put it on my burned skin.  I was so not happy!!!  Restaurant Rule #1, NEVER hand a customer a hot plate!  I think we need to venture out to Gladewater or Pittsburg the next time we want to eat out.

After dinner, we went to Kiki and Pops house and I made a banana pudding.  It was my first time to make this recipe so I was a little nervous but I knew it would have to be good based on the ingredients.  It was FABULOUS!!!  I can't wait to make it again!
saturday night12

This was a really nice day spent with the family!
