Happy Birthday Brent!!!

February 21st was the day Brent was born 34 years ago and I tried to make that day special for him. We started the morning with fresh, fluffy pancakes and they were so yummy! It was my first time to make them and I was so excited that they turned out as well as they did. However, after making this big stack of pancakes, I remembered writing on our grocery list that we needed syrup. I immediately panicked and wanted to run to the store to get some but Brent said we didn't need it. So, he put jelly on his and I used honey on mine.
We went to church with Wes and Kath for Stake Conference which lasts 2 hours. Beck did well for the first hour but Wes had to spend the 2nd hour chasing him around the hallways. Beck ran around so much that he was sweating when we saw him! We ate lunch at On the Border then headed home so that both Brent and Beck could take a nap. I went to the grocery store then bought an ice cream cake at Baskin Robbins. For dinner, we had pizza since we were still kind of full from lunch then the delicious cake.
I think Brent enjoyed his day...Happy Birthday!!!
This is the cake that Kathleen baked for Brent and we really enjoyed eating it.
The day before Brent's birthday is Wesley's birthday so we all got together at Brian and Katherine's old house to help them move into their new house and ate some bar-b-que then this beautiful cake!
Happy Birthday to you too Wes!

Valentine's 2010

I've never been a fan of Valentine's Day because I feel like you should show your love everyday but this year, I had fun putting together the Valentine's bags for Beck's friends at Mrs. Linda's. I found this idea in a magazine and it turned out to be a hit! Mrs. Linda said that she's giving me a Parent Award and Madeline's mom emailed me and said she loved what I did which made me so happy!

I bought decorated cellophane bags, made tags at work for each child then put a piece of fruit in the bag. Listed below is what the tags said and I even made one for Beck so he got one too.
  • I go bananas over you!
  • You are the apple of my eye.
  • Orange you glad it is Valentine's day.

When I picked Beck up from Mrs. Linda's, he had 2 Valentine's bags...one was filled with goodies from Mrs. Linda (coloring book, heart-shaped sunglasses, an I Love You stamp, etc.). The other bag had things from his friends. Most just did a simple Valentine's Day card and some included a sucker with the card or a bag of M&M's. Madeline's mom made a heart-shaped rice crispy treat and heart-shaped cookie...both yummy!

I made cupcakes for the first time for Brent and Beck and I was so excited that they turned out so cute and yummy!

Brent gave me some chocolate covered popcorn, heart-shaped peanut butter cup (my favorite candy) and a really cute pink stuffed puppy dog that Beck loves! He carries it around and I happen to catch him snuggled up with this stuffed puppy in our bed while watching cartoons.

Nasty Paci

We took a trip to Home Depot and Beck absolutely loves riding in the "car" cart! If he's not in the "car" cart then he's running around the store (everybody always smiles when they see him running!) or pushing the large carts around that people use for big items such as wood or sheet rock. It's always interesting going to the store with Beck!

I wanted to take a picture of Beck in the "car" cart but without the Nasty Paci so this is Beck before I took it out of his mouth...

This is Beck terribly upset and wants the Nasty Paci back!

This is Beck so excited to see that Mommy is giving him the Nasty Paci...

Now he's very content in his "car" cart!

Snow Storm Part Three

Brent's office closed at 3:30 so after he got home, we built a fire in the fireplace then when outside to play in the snow and build Snowman #3 since #1 and #2 fell down.

This is Beck happy and screaming...

We walked to the green belt and Brent rolled up a large bundle of snow...notice the layers of snow and you can see the thickness of the snow by looking at what's left on the ground. It reminds me of a hay bale.

One of Beck's favorite things to do is run from mommy and daddy.

He seems focused in this picture...

Our neighbor and his son built an igloo! It took every drop of snow from their front yard and their back yard.

The neighbor's son is inside helping Beck...

Now Beck is standing up in the igloo...

He's thinking about going back in...

We thoroughly enjoyed playing in the snow with Beck and hope we can do it again next year! Beck's new word, "Snow"!

Snow Storm Part Two

All of Dallas looked liked a winter wonderland Friday morning, February 12th. All of the schools closed which means my office did too. However, Brent had to go in but he left the house close to 10am and then his office closed at 3:30. (Not sure why his office didn't close considering the phones didn't work.) From what I've heard, Plano received close to 10 inches of snow which has never happened so this storm will go down in history. The last big snow storm for Plano was in 1978.

After Brent left the house, Beck and I decided to venture out and play in the snow. Beck tried to walk in it but it was way too deep for him! He immediately fell down then struggled to get up.

The snow that accumulated on the trees was extremely heavy and most of our neighbors lost a branch or two. As you can see, we lost a couple of branches from our crape myrtle tree.

This is Beck attempting to walk in the snow again and after going in the house, I quickly discovered that his shoes are not waterproof (his socks were soaking wet).

Our street...

This is Beck running from me in the street...(notice the broken branches)...

The snow is melting so there's a lot of water gushing down the side of the street and Beck had fun stomping in it.
This is the back of our house...

Snow on the tree....so pretty!

Brent is now building snowman #3 since snowman #1 and #2 fell down. Beck is pulling as hard as he can on the snowman's arm that Brent just added and it finally broke off.

Snow Storm Part One

On Thursday, February 11th, I got my birthday wish...it snowed ALL day!!! Mrs. Linda didn't have power so we decided that Brent would keep Beck in the morning and I would keep him in the afternoon since I had a morning meeting. Luckily, the roads weren't bad but when I got to the office the majority of the people in my meeting couldn't be there so I left after 11:00am. I picked up some Chinese food for lunch then came home to find Brent chilling on the couch and Beck running around. They had already built a snowman but it fell down by the time I got home. So, that afternoon we went outside to build Snowman #2. While Brent is working on the snowman, Beck is exploring his new surroundings... This is Brent building Snowman #2...
then Beck decided to help out...

We had to pose next to this ginormous snowman and as you can tell, Beck's hands were cold so I wrapped them up in my scarf.
After Beck went to bed, Brent and I went outside to check out the snow since it had been falling all day.
Please take note of Brent wearing shorts in the freezing cold weather!
