Kinsey loves to wear skirts and I'm not sure why she changed today because the skirt she had on earlier fit better.

Park

MOPS and park1
We went to the park on this lovely day after Beck got out of school...(photo credit goes to Beck!)

I'd love to know what he is pondering about!

MOPS and park3
I love to watch them play on things that I played on when I was a youngster.  They had these springy toys at the McDonald's play area when I was a little girl.

First Day of Spring

03.20.14

It's the first day of spring and we have a lot planned!  MOPS, park and soccer practice!  How's that for one day?

Question of the Day: How do you make sense of God when terrible things happen?  God has a plan and we must rely on Him at all times even through the really hard and difficult times.  He loves us and wants us to trust Him.  Making us struggle also makes us stronger.  All I can add to this is to Pray, Pray and Pray more.

Devotional Time: We should lean on God and not worry about things.  God gave us power, love and self-discipline.

Dr. Marty Dunbar is our speaker today and he's going to address a topic that is a problem for some but not for me...."How to get your husband to church".  Luckily for me, my hubby has a strong religious background.  We are very active in our church so it'll be interesting or boring to hear what is said today.

Dr. Dunbar talks to us about 9 Ways To Get Hubby In Church (what happened to the top 10 list?):
1. Express your feelings and be assertive.  Hubby loves to hear how you feel!  John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
2. Focus on Jesus and always pray; prayer grounds us.  Ephesians 4:15 "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ."
3. Be an example.  There is nothing more powerful than watching your spouse live the faith.  Be bold in your faith.  It's hard to argue with somebody's passion.  I Peter 3:1-2 "Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear."
4. Support the men's ministry; sign your hubby up for an event such as flag football or volunteer work.
5. Don't assume your hubby will accept Jesus the way you do.
6. Create a home.  Go to bed early so you can get enough rest for church on Sunday.
7. Encourage them. Proverbs 12:25 "Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad."
8. Serve with them and invite them.
9. Let go and let God. Explain why your faith is so important.  There is only so much you can do or say; turn it over to God.

He also recommended a couple of books...Waking the Dead and Beautiful Outlaw.

It was very interesting to hear what he had to say and the stories that some of the ladies shared.  I'm going to pray that Beck stays strong in the church and that Kinsey finds a husband that already has God in his life.  Love, Momma

Back to the Routine

03.18.14

Spring Break is over and we are getting back into the routine of things.  Yesterday was St. Patty's Day but nothing eventful happened so it went by in the blink of an eye.

I took Kinsey to dance class this morning...

Then, we met Neena and Aunt Vickie at Clear Springs for lunch.  It's always fun hanging out with these two sisters...they are a hoot!  After Beck got out of school, Neena and Aunt Vickie took the kids to our house so I could get a yearly check-up from Dr. ?  I can't remember her name and it's no big deal because I'll probably end up seeing somebody else next year anyway.  You see, I have the worst luck with doctors.  We were not happy with the doctor I had when I was pregnant with Beck so I found a great lady near our Plano house.  She delivered her baby one month before I had Kinsey so I knew all along that she would not deliver Kinsey but I was really happy with her and her partner.  Right before I moved, I got a letter from her saying that she was retiring.  Bummer!  So, I went to a doctor in Tyler after we moved to Gilmer and later in the year received a letter that she was moving to another office.  I went to her new office for my next yearly check-up and later received a letter that she was moving to another city!  I went back to that office sometime later after we had move to Bullard and the office was closed!  I know this sounds crazy!  Who has this much trouble finding a really good doctor and one that is reliable?  I've asked for recommendations but some are not taking new patients and the others are booked at least three months in advance!  I am the biggest procrastinator so trying to make an appointment that far in advance simply didn't happen this year so I had to go with whoever could see me at the last minute.  Ha!  However, my goal is to make an appointment as early as I possibly can this time!  Wish me luck getting an appointment and finding a doctor that will stick around.

Then, we spent the night with Kiki and Pops.  On Saturday, we took the kids for a ride on the golf cart around their property and found some lovely flowers.  This type of flower brings back childhood memories because they grew next to the old barn on our land as well.

Beck and Kinsey love to feed Sugar, the donkey!

Brent and I were able to go on a date today!!!  We ate at Cowboy Chicken and watched a movie called Non-Stop which is about...an air marshal springs into action during a transatlantic flight after receiving a series of text messages that put his fellow passengers at risk unless the airline transfers $150 million into an off-shore account starring Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore.  We really enjoyed this movie!  Thanks for watching the kids Kiki and Pops!
