Aunt Wendy's Visit and a Big Storm

08.06-08.12

On Monday afternoon, we picked up Aunt Wendy from her home and stopped at Kid's View.  It had rained this morning and it was hot and humid!  Needless to say, we didn't stay very long.

Wendy watched Kinsey Tuesday morning so I could get my hair cut and colored.  She and Kinsey watched Barney and played outside.

Today was also pj day for Beck as well as bring your stuffed animal day.  We talked to Beck about all of his options and he insisted on wearing the moose jammies that he got from Kiki and Pops' Alaskan cruise this summer and I thought he would want to take Gizmo but he wanted to take Spike.  I usually pick him up after lunch but today, they were going to watch a movie in the gym during nap time and I thought he would really enjoy doing that so I picked him up at 3:00pm.  He had a really good day at school today.

That afternoon, we took our last trip to the Pine Tree High School pool because they are shutting down in three days.  Boo!  This is a sign that summer is coming to an end and school will be starting soon.

On Wednesday afternoon, we took Wendy back home then ate dinner at Chick-fil-a with Neena.  We stayed there for an hour because Beck and Kinsey had so much fun playing on the indoor playground.  Wendy has used up all of her vacation time for the year but they are allowing her to be gone from the home three days per week which isn't bad.  She'll spend three days with our Aunt Vickie next week.  However, she will be really bummed during the holidays when she can't spend a week away from the group home.

Around 8:00pm, the rain was coming down so hard that it was blowing sideways into the back door and the trees were swirling around.  It was very scary!  Then, our electricity went out and that's when Beck and Kinsey got really scared.  Brent quickly swept up Kinsey in his arms and we all went to the back bedroom.  We prayed that none of Nanny's trees would fall on her house.  After the storm calmed down, we drove around to look at the aftermath.  Branches were EVERY WHERE!!!  There was a branch laying next to my vehicle, small twigs all over the driveway/front yard, a tree fell on our neighbors house and the streets were covered with branches.  We also saw several people outside with a flashlight looking to see what had happened to their house.  The next day, we were able to really see the damage in daylight.  One street away from Beck's school was blocked off due to a tree that had fallen over.  Kinsey and I drove down Cherokee Trace and found a huge tree split in half.  We are so blessed that we survived the storm without any major damages.
