Carving Pumpkins

10.29.12

My very sweet friend, Tiffany, invited us to her dad's house to carve pumpkins on this nice Monday night and Kinsey decided to not take a nap today.  She talked for about 45 minutes then decided to start yelling, "Mommy!"  I think she was excited to see Beck when he came home from school and wanted to play rather than sleep.  That's why she looks so tired when we arrived at George's house.

Luckily, Brent showed up at the same time we did and I'm so fortunate that he will carve pumpkins.  However, I'm not sure how long he'll do this since he had an allergic reaction tonight.  His hands started itching and he had to wash them with soap to remove every piece of pumpkin.  And, poor Stevie learned a lesson tonight...he wanted the ugliest looking pumpkin but this type of pumpkin could not be carved because it was too thick so he ended up drawing a face on it.  Stevie is just like his mommy...super sweet!  He is always so nice to Beck.

Can you tell that Beck loved carving pumpkins?

Kinsey has perked up and is enjoying watching Daddy carve pumpkins.

Patti is a great mommy!  Her daughter picked out what looked like a very complicated pattern and Patti went to town working on it!  She told me that her husband isn't into carving pumpkins but luckily for Ann Marie, her mommy made it happen.

Brandon is working very hard on his pumpkin...

I need to do some bragging here...not only did Brent show up after work without eating dinner and cleaned out two pumpkins but he also is the best pumpkin carver in the world!  He always does a free-hand style and it always looks awesome!  He gets his artistic skills from his mommy.  Talent...lots of talent in those hands.

I baked cup some cupcakes for the kids to snack on and they were gone in a blink of an eye!  I could not get over how fast they disappeared but I guess that's what happens when you've got some hungry kids.  They all played hard on the swing set, they all ran around the back yard and a few kids climbed the tree.  In fact, Beck asked Daddy to teach him how to climb a tree and of course Kinsey had to do it too.  Thankfully, nobody got hurt.  We lit up the pumpkins as soon as we got home and they look fantastic!

  1. My pumpkins rock! Beck had more fun playing with all the bid kids on the Dodd playground.
