Last Day of School (this year)

Beck missed school yesterday because I made my hair appointment with Amanda in Gilmer at 10am.  I have no idea what I was thinking when I made that appointment.  She must have been almost booked up when I made my appointment last time and this was pretty much my only option.  Anyway, I took a selfie so the kids could see what I look like when I get my hair colored.  It's a sight...that's for sure!  There are (what seems like) a million strips of foil in my hair and then I sit under the dryer for the color to process.  The right side of the picture below is the final product.  I'm happy that it looks great but I am SO sad because I've been doing everything possible to get this hair to grow!  I've been taking prenatal vitamins, brushing my hair every single night to stimulate the scalp and I even skipped a hair cut once just to keep the extra length.  Anyway, I desperately needed a new flat iron so I recently bought one.  Mine must have been worn out because I set the temperature on the new flat iron the same as the old one and it fried my hair!  I spent many nights in front of the mirror with my hair cutting scissors trimming the damaged ends before this appointment.  Amanda couldn't believe how bad my hair was so that's why she had to cut so much length off.  Looks like I'm starting all over again letting it grow.

Well, let's talk about fun Friday.  Beck loves going to school on Friday's because they mostly do activities and science experiments.  Plus, this is the last day of school until he goes back in January!  He is going to love the break!

Kinsey rarely takes naps these days but she will take a power nap as we drive to Beck's school and she'll usually wake up once we get home.  However, falling asleep in Beck's car seat was not cool.  Lol!  I can't wait to get a new car seat for her!

Beck got some really cute things from his class Christmas party!  He put the cinnamon star on the tree in the living room but we'll add it to his tree next year.

Elf on the Shelf is back and I wanted to show you some of the cute places he's been after his trip to the North Pole.  He is Santa's helper and tells Santa everything the kids do everyday.  I love Elfie!  Also known as Chippy which is what Beck named him.

In six months, Kinsey will be four years old!  Oh my goodness!  She was only one when we moved to East Texas!

For her half year celebration, she is getting her hair cut/trimmed for the very first time in her entire life!

Then, we met Misty for lunch.

After picking Beck up at school, we played with bubbles.

I spent this evening with the Young Women going caroling to several houses.  It was fun!  I haven't done that in years!

Last Dance Class (this year)

I was kind of hoping the other moms would dress their girls up in red and green since we didn't get to see all of the dressed up for the Holiday in the Park performance that was cancelled.  I'll text them next time.

All of the girls received a ribbon today and Kinsey was so excited!  See y'all next year!

Bullard Christmas Spectacular

12.16.13

On Sunday, one of the very sweet, very pretty and very talented young lady told me that the Bullard drill team is having a Christmas show tonight.  How exciting!  My love to dance appreciates going to functions such as this but I think it's good exposure for Kinsey too.  I want her to see the girls dancing so that she's not scared when she has to perform on stage at her recital in May.  That is wishful thinking!  Lol!

Kinsey and I sat with Elise's Mom and Dad which was nice.  However, they performed in the high school gym which means we had to sit on the very uncomfortable tiny metal bench.  I had to sit sideways so that my knees did not touch the back of the person in front of me.  The show really was spectacular other than the bad seat.

The girl in the front row, wearing a red shirt on the right side of the picture is also in the young women's group but she will be moving to OK soon to live with her dad.  (She is not part of the drill team.)

Kinsey absolutely loved the show and she showed Daddy all of the moves she saw in the show including the splits! 

Holiday in the Park (part two)

After playing in the snow, Brent and I rode a tube down a snow hill which was so much fun!  (By the way, Beck rode in my lap and he didn't like it as much as mommy did.)  I really wish we had done this more than once but it was really cold and we wanted to check out what Holiday in the Park was all about.  We found a pony to ride and Kinsey was super giddy!  There is pure joy written all over this little girl's face!

Not many vendors showed up because of the bad weather so we decided to ditch this place and head to a warm restaurant with delicious food.

And, this is what they looked like as soon as I hit the road...sound asleep; completely worn out.

A while back, there was a form sitting on Candy Crocker's desk that talked about the Tyler High School drill team coming to your house to perform a Christmas Spectacular on December 7th for $25.  I had to sign up for this because that's when we had planned on having Krueger Christmas at our house.  I was totally excited!  The girls did not perform on that date because it was too cold and our party had been cancelled because of the ice in Dallas so everything was rescheduled for this Saturday.  Well, as luck would have it, the Krueger Christmas party was also rescheduled for next weekend which means I will have some of the girls from the drill team perform for US.  Lol!  I spread the word to all of my friends to come over but everybody already had plans.  I told Kiki to come over because I had a surprise.  Kiki and Brent had no clue what I had done so I explained everything to them right before the girls performed.  The girls could have performed outside but it really was too cold so they danced in our house!  How crazy is this story?  It would have been a Christmas Spectacular for the Krueger Christmas party but it just didn't work out.  Oh well.  We can just add this to one of my big adventures.

I think Beck enjoyed watching them dance but I do know for a fact that Kinsey LOVED it!

Kiki talked to the girls about their awesome performance and gave them some great advice on their future endeavors.

Holiday in the Park (part one)

Kinsey's dance class was scheduled to perform at Holiday in the Park (at Bergfeld Park) at 11:30 this very chilly Saturday morning.  I had read that there would be a snow area for the kids so we got up there early to check it out.  I'm not really sure what I was thinking by not putting warm boots on the kids feet!  All of the dancers were asked to wear red and green which is how one of the organizers of Holiday in the Park talked to me about the performance.  She informed me that it had been canceled due to bad weather.  I was a bit disappointed because Kinsey's dance teacher did not contact us but it wasn't that big of a deal.  However, I did feel sorry for the mom that lugged four kids plus a tiny baby up there.  I know she was not a happy camper.  I later found out that Janna and Kelly were also very upset.  We may not watch Kinsey dance on-stage which she was not excited about anyway but the kids had a blast throwing snowballs at each other and especially enjoyed attacking Daddy!  Lol!  Enjoy the snowball fight pictures!
