Our table discussion question is, "What Easter traditions do you have with your family?" We have several traditions such as hide Easter eggs and the kids get Easter baskets but the one tradition that stands out is when we go to Gilmer and dye eggs. The Bishop's have been doing this ever since I met Brent and it's even more fun now that there are nine grandkids!
Our speaker today is Amy Waters and she is going to talk about "Mom Guilt, Comparison and How Grace Destroys Them".
Compare others weaknesses to others strengths. A really good way of explaining this is when a mother looks at any social media and a friend is at the park having fun while she's stuck at home with crying babies and 3 loads of laundry to fold. Nobody likes to show the bad or ugly stuff on social media. This mom at the park might have 3 loads of laundry to do the next day so don't be jealous of what she is doing now.
Our daughters watch us! Be happy with yourself and your daughter will be happy with herself.
Forgiveness Language
Healthy Guilt
Oppressive Guilt - can't make up for what you've done. Jesus interacted with Peter, James and John...they are his inner circle.
Judas betrays Jesus for money (silver). Judas gives the money back then kills himself because he is concerned how people think of him.
Six Rules to Follow:
1. Learn to receive grace from God.
2. Give grace to each other.
3. Keep short accounts; humble yourself and ask for forgiveness
4. Trust God!
5. Delight in strength in other people
6. Change the way you think and begin to preach the gospel.
Amy said,
"you have to be a friend to have a friend" which is the same message I heard from my long-time friend, Leigh, many, many years ago! It also goes back to what's written in the Bible,
"Do unto others as you have them do unto you." Be nice for goodness sakes.
Another great MOPS meeting and it's nice to hear that we all face the same problems and how to deal with them. Thanks!
The Smith County Medical Alliance has two book fairs per year...once in the spring and once in the fall. The books start at $0.25 and all proceeds go towards scholarships at Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas at Tyler. I went to the book fair before going to MOPS and scored a lot of great books for the kids! They are so happy and that makes me happy! Two thumbs up!
