We started our day at the Gulf Shores Zoo while Pops and Brent hit some balls at the golf course. It was another hot/humid day! Our first stop is at the lemur exhibit and these critters went crazy every once in a while. I could hear them fighting as we walked through this little zoo.
The best part about this zoo is that they have three different areas that allows you to sit with the animals (this one cost $5 per person). Very hands-on which is great for the kids (and adults)! All of the kids held a baby turtle and it only got dropped once (by Lola).
Then, a giant boa was brought out for all to hold. The young kids are so brave!
And, Kiki is very brave!!
As well as Aunt Katherine!!!
Beck didn't care about the snake...he was dying to hold the alligator!
The first one to hold it is Ava and Kinsey is so upset because she wanted to hold it first!
Look at the happy girl...she was the second one to hold the alligator.
My brave boy, Beck, chickened out and let Kiki hold the alligator.
Ok, he is brave now and decided to hold the one thing that he loves the most at any zoo!
Ava wanted to hold the alligator one more time before we left this area.
I almost missed this turtle because he had buried himself in a deep hole which I've never seen before.
This very unique looking bird (crown crane) was on top of an animal picking off the bugs. Now that was a really cool thing to watch!
Feeding the goats is always fun to do but hold on to your cup tightly or one might take it away which is what happened to poor Lola.
Look at this beautiful peacock! Later in the day, we saw him walking around so Beck tried to catch him.
These kids are so brave to stand on the fence to see a really big alligator below.
The next hands-on area was with the kangaroos (cost for this one is $5 per person). Kinsey, Beck and Lola held a baby kangaroo. The one that we didn't do was with the lemurs because it was $10 per person.
We ended our day at the zoo by watching this cute presentation of the different animals. I have not been brave all day but I was eager to hold this very large and colorful caterpillar? Not really sure what it was as I got a phone call and had to jet off to move Brent's truck. That's a long story and not one we want to remember. But, I returned in time to see the show and they let the audience touch almost every animal they brought out except for the baby cheetah.
Beck and his animals...he had to have this bird from the gift shop and he loves it.
