MOPS - 1,000 Gifts

11.20.14

We started our meeting with a very emotional story from Nicole R...she told us she had an emergency c-section and her daughter was born unresponsive.  It took 11 minutes to revive her baby.  Her hubby and baby was flown to Children's Hospital in Dallas.  Nicole was unable to go since she just had a c-section.  Her newborn baby was put on a cooling blanket to drop the temperature to allow the organs to heal.  Her poor baby was shivering but it was all worth it because her daughter is now 3 years old and she is healthy!  There wasn't a dry eye in the room.  Nicole thanks Heavenly Father everyday for her miracle baby.

Devotional given by Judy: John 13:34-35, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Judy challenges all of us to leak love all over everybody.  What does that mean?  Being nice to the elderly, talking to the sacker at the grocery store, and don't be afraid to say, Merry Christmas!"

Dr. Ann Abrameit talked to us about 1,000 gifts.  She is a pigs farmers wife in Canada and an English major.
She wants us to be grateful and thankful. Colossians 3:15-17, "And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

We should try to get in the habit of saying, "I get to" opposed to "I have to".
  • Practice giving thanks
  • Preach thankfulness
  • Celebrate spiritual mile stones
  • Write down the way God has blessed you in your journal
Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family...be thankful for the things that don't bug you.
