Today is the big day...a field trip to the fire station! This week's topic is Safety Helpers and Beck has learned to call 911 in case of emergency which would be easy to do if we had a land line but we don't. That means we will have to teach him how to dial that number on our cell phone. Mrs. Mason sent home a note saying that parents and siblings are welcome to join the trip to the fire station. Mrs Mason put a school t-shirt on all of her students with a sticker on the back that has the school's phone number on it. As we walked to the fire station from the school, she asked me to be the caboose but luckily Sandy joined us and she took over that duty. Beck and Kinsey walked side by side holding hands which was so sweet! I could tell he was proud to have his Mommy and sister with him.
We had to keep an eye on all 16 kids this morning but it wasn't too difficult.
I love that they demonstrated what a fireman looks like with all of the gear on and they reinforced to not run from the fireman if you see him in your house. This is such a great learning opportunity for the kids and hopefully none of us will see a fireman in our home!
Beck was a brave little boy to get close to the fireman...
The little boy on the right is John Henry and he so cute.
The boy standing on the fire truck is Beck's friend, Kennedy, and the blurry boy trying to run out of the picture is Beck's soccer friend, Peyton.
Out of the blue, Beck and Kinsey hugged each other...Aw, so sweet!
Now for the best part of this trip...riding the fire truck back to school.
I was not expecting to be able to ride along but the Captain said I could and it was so much fun!!! I told Beck many times that he would have to go back to school after visiting the fire station but we got back at 11:30 so I took him home. What a treat!
