Zelma Lucille Wright passed away on June 26 in her youngest son's home at the age of 80. Lucille (she hated her first name so she went by Lucille) was born February 13, 1933 to Malcom and Mamie McPeak Perdue. She was always a church member at various small churches. She was mostly a stay-at-home mom but had a few small jobs here and there. She was pregnant eight times but only six are still with us today (one was a miscarriage and Aunt Pam (next to youngest child) passed away almost two years ago).
My grandmother's first-born child, Linda Lanell, was born August 13, 1950 in Pampa, TX.
Her second child Kerry was born 1 1/2 years later (there was a miscarriage between Linda and Kerry). Kerry is a traveling man; his job takes him all over the world. He is currently in Nebraska and will be there during the cold winter months. His wife, Linda, holds the fort down in Ore City. He has four beautiful daughters, Katrina, Theresa, Cari and Cassi.
I vaguely remember being around Katrina one time when we were very young girls. She and her family just happened to be passing thru town and they wanted to stop by for this family get-together. I'm so glad I was able to see her again!
My very fun and vibrant Aunt Trish will celebrate her 60th birthday next month. Trish has four children, Christie (same age as me), Robert, Salena and Joey.
Joey will be getting married to Joannie in three months and his baby girl, Ava, was a hit today!
Sweet Salena is footloose and fancy free; just chillin in the pool with Beck.
My Uncle Dennis is also celebrating his birthday (59 years old) next month (I'm not kidding when I say they were born one year apart!) Dennis and Sheila have two sons, Kelly and Kyle.
Kelly brought his two lovely daughters. I'm ashamed to say that I introduced myself to him when he arrived...that's how long it's been since I've seen him!
My super sweet Aunt Vickie will celebrate her 58th birthday on August 1st (12 days before my mom's birthday). The reason why we didn't do a family picture with her kiddos is because her youngest daughters boyfriend, Matt, pushed Stacey and Crystal in the pool! They were fully clothed and luckily did not have their cell phone on them! I was completely shocked that he did that but it sure was funny. He's awfully brave to do that the first time meeting the family.
The baby of the family, Marty, will celebrate his 56th birthday in September and he also has two children. Marty and Rhonda have been taking care of grandma for the past three years and they live in Georgia.
Aunt Sheila, Wendy and Rhonda
We sure enjoyed spending time together and we vowed to get together more often instead of when a family member passes away. Our family was once very close. We spent every holiday together but over the years I think feelings were hurt and we quit getting together in my high school days. As my mom has said before, "some of the memories are too painful." Grandma was my last living grandparent and she was a very ornery lady. Even in her dying days, she spoke badly of her family except for her precious granddaughter, Jennifer (Pam's daughter). Her wish was to be buried and then Marty could tell the family what had happened. Unbelievable. How could somebody not want the family at their funeral? Rest In Peace Lucille.
Beck and Kinsey cracked me up tonight as they prepared to go to sleep with ALL of their babies!
I love my family!
