Birthday Fun...

It is so hard to believe that this is my last year of being 30-something! What's really crazy is to think that I'll be 40 next year and Kinsey will be 1 years old! Wow!

This has been a great birthday week! Mom came to visit us on Saturday and brought flowers, my favorite cookie and gifts. She watched Beck that night while Brent and I ate dinner at Johnny Carino's. I had Lobster Ravioli...so yummy! (Wendy was supposed to come with her but something came up.)

Brent bought me a gorgeous table for the entry and with birthday money from mom, I was able to purchase this beautiful flower arrangement for the table.

On Tuesday, Brent met me at Razoo's for a delicious lunch...I was craving fried dill pickles and they have the best ones! For my entree, I got fried shrimp, hush puppies, french fries and corn on the cob. Delicious!!!

That evening, the entire Bishop family met at Jeff and Jill's house for a Bishop birthday celebration (mine, Brent, Brian, Wes and Jody) minus Wes and Jody and to see little Marcus. Beck had so much fun running around with Noah and Ava. Lola is starting to walk which was really fun to see her in action. And, Katherine brought 2 super cute cakes from Society Bakery (I love this place) and it was so yummy!!!

On Wednesday (my actual birthday), my co-workers took me to Cuba Libre another favorite place to eat. We started with chips/queso and usually I get surf and turf tacos (shrimp and beef) but today I felt adventurous and got the special tacos they offered which was three spicy shrimp tacos (with grilled pineapple) in corn tortillas served with rice and black beans. It was delicious!!!

That evening, I had so many leftovers from going out that we decided to stay in and enjoy a nice warm fire and the cake Brent got me (it is very cute). The bear is what I picked out a few days ago and Brent said I couldn't have it so this was another perfect birthday gift...I will share it with Kinsey since the bear has 2010 and Princess written on it.

All in all, this has been the best birthday!!!
Looking forward to many more to come.

Remodel Update

The sun room had a wet bar in it but we used it for storage so nobody really even knew about it. Well, now it is a closet for the new guest bedroom! Brent shut off the plumbing and framed this closet so the remodel is coming along...

Here are a couple of before pictures of the wet bar...

This is the closet after Brent framed it and added sheet rock.
It is ready for mud then texture.

What I Love...

I've mentioned a few of Beck's favorites in previous blogs and would like to add to the list.

Poppy and Kiki gave Beck a chair as a Christmas gift that all of the other grand kids have and Beck absolutely loves to sit in it and watch his shows (mainly cartoons).

Another favorite is watching cartoons in mom and dad's bed (I guess because our bed is so comfy). Sometimes, we join him and enjoy snuggling up to our little guy.

Nana's late husband Ken has a sister (Faye) that lives in South Carolina and still keeps in touch with all of us. She enjoys hearing stories about Beck and really loves to see pictures of him. A while back she mailed a stuffed monkey to us that has a pacifier and Beck loves to chew on the Monkey's pacifier. Recently, she mailed a stuffed blue bunny that plays "Jesus Loves Me" when you squeeze the bunny's belly. It is so cute to see him carry this bunny around.

Remodel Update

Once again, Brent made huge progress this weekend and the room is getting closer to being done.

The hallway now has 2 can lights which required some major electrical work because the one switch controlled the ceiling fan. We needed two switches...one for the hallway and one for the new bedroom. Thanks to Brent's knowledge and skills, he was able to get this accomplished without paying an electrician.

Brent also had to move the ceiling fan to the middle of the room and patch up the holes where old lights and ceiling fan were located.

The wall is complete and ready for texture.
Next steps...building the closet, texture then paint. That's a lot of work for the weekend! Maybe Beck and I will get in on the action.

Marcus Wesley Bishop

Jeff (Brent's baby brother) and Jill welcomed Marcus Wesley Bishop into the world on Wednesday, January 27th at 8:10 am. Marcus weighed 8 pounds 1 oz and he's 19 3/4" long. Let me introduce you to our newest nephew...
We've decided that Marcus has more hair than Beck does and Beck is almost 22 months old!
Jeff and Jill...the proud parents of Marcus...

Kiki is so proud of her 5th grand child...
T
his is Jill's mom, Jo, and this is her first grand baby.

Beck's Little Sister

On Monday, January 25th, Brent and I went to the doctor's office for a 3:00pm sonogram to find out if we are having a boy or a girl in June. The lady doing our sonogram said the baby looked great and she's 99% positive that we are having a girl. While getting the sonogram, Dr. Nivens had to leave to deliver a baby and rather than wait, I decided to go back the next morning.

Tuesday morning, Beck and I hung out and watched cartoons until it was time for me to take him to Mrs. Linda's. (He loves watching Pinky Dinky Doo and Backyardigans.) When we got to Mrs. Linda's, I took off his jacket and Mr. Mark put some Pop Tarts on the table and Beck quickly sat down and started chowing down. My appointment was at 9:00 but didn't get called back until 9:15. The nurse weighed me (only gained 1 pound; yeah!) and my blood pressure was great. Then, Dr. Nivens came in and apologized for not being there yesterday and we talked about my nausea (down to 1 pill per day). After our short conversation, she measured my belly then wanted to check the baby's heart beat. There was no heart beat and I could tell she was getting a little concerned which got me really concerned. We went to the sonogram room and immediately I could see the very, very slow heart beat which really scared me. It was only 75 beats per minute; normal heart beat should be around 120-160bpm. She kept looking at the heart beat and it got up to 166bpm which was great but she couldn't explain the slow heart beat. She said a few scary things such as, "I've never seen this before", "sometimes the baby stops growing and the heart stops beating", etc. At this point, the fear has totally set in with me and she wanted me to see the specialist we had seen before for the Down Syndrome test. Brent met me at the specialist office and at this point I was in tears.

Dr. Zaretsky told us he does around 5,000 sonograms per year and has seen this many times. He looked at the heart beat, the blood flow in the heart and measured the baby's body parts and said she looks great. She even had hick-ups which was so fun to watch. He didn't explain why it happens but the good news is that Beck's little sister is doing great.

Remodel Update...

Brent made a lot of progress on the new guest bedroom.

We now have a hallway to the pool...
This is the new wall for the new bedroom...

Beck is in training to be Daddy's Little Helper...

Even I got in on the action of pulling staples out of the wall. Probably not the safest thing a 20-week pregnant person should do but I have to contribute somehow.
