The Importance of Clothes

Kids go through many different phases such as stranger anxiety, wanting to carry a metal school bus every where or wanting to be dressed at all times. The only time we get to see Beck without clothes is when he takes a bath. He loves to wear his pj's and must have socks on at all times. One time, his sock fell off while he was sleeping and woke us up telling us he needed his sock! I felt around but couldn't find the missing sock so I grabbed my sock that was by my night stand and put it on his foot. Beck quickly went back to sleep not knowing that he was wearing my sock.

Kinsey doesn't care what she's wearing for the moment. She'll crawl around wearing only a diaper and she's perfectly happy. Beck noticed that she was naked and we convinced him to get naked with her. Reluctantly he did but kept his socks on and was very sad about it. In fact, if you look closely you can see tears in his eyes.

Easter at Bishop Playhouse

I thought I had taken pictures of all the kids with the bunny but it looks like I forgot to take one of Beck and Kinsey. Bummer! I filled plastic eggs with chocolate candy and I baked sugar cookies with the Easter bunny on them. After the kids woke up from their afternoon nap, I let them hunt eggs in the living room since it was wet outside then I gave them cookies. Beck cried so hard asking for the brown cookies. I never dreamed he wouldn't touch the sugar cookies and he only wanted chocolate chip cookies! So, guess who ate all of the cookies...me!

Bishop Playhouse Update

This is what happens when you feed lasagna to a 15-month old little boy (Marcus) and pureed raspberries and strawberries to a 10-month old little girl (Kinsey)...a GIANT mess!!!

Hail!!!

I know as kids we would love to say this word because we knew that was the only time we could say it and get away with it. We have had two hail storms in the past week! On this particular day, Melissa had just picked up Casey so I took Beck and Kinsey to the front entry to watch the ice hit the ground. We keep a bucket by the front door for the kids to play with along with other toys such as shovels, balls, golf clubs, etc. Anyway, Beck grabbed the bucket and wanted me to run in the yard and collect the ice. Being the cool mom that I am, I did it with Kinsey in my arms and we all had a good time. She ended up getting a little wet and Beck tried to get some ice too.

Kinsey 10-Months Old & Beck's 3-Year Check-up

I took the kids to the doctor on Friday morning and Brent stayed at the house with Casey. I talked to Beck about Dr. Minsky checking his ears but never mentioned that he would get a shot. Beck was such a good boy...he stood on the scale to get weighed, he stood against the wall so the nurse could measure his height, he even let the nurse take his blood pressure. Dr. Minsky checked his ears, his mouth and bent his legs (not sure what that was about) and Beck was so excited to get stickers because he knew he had been a good boy. He waited patiently for Kinsey to get checked out then it was time to get shots. I asked Gail would it be better to start with the most difficult one and she asked which would cry the most and I quickly responded, "Beck because he has no idea what's about to happen." So, we started with Kinsey and she got one shot. She stopped crying as soon as I picked her up. This is when my heart started racing and I'm sure my neck was splotchy because I dreaded telling Beck that he was about to get a shot. Not a typical shot but the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) which burns a little so that raised my anxiety to another level! With Kinsey on one hip, I grabbed Beck with my free hand and Gail also grabbed him and we both lifted him onto the table. Beck was fighting us with every bit of strength he had and ended up hitting Gail in the face with his arm. I apologized to her as soon as it happened. I felt terrible!!! In hind sight, maybe I should have prepared Beck for the shot but I'm not sure if it would have made a difference. She quickly gave him the shot and he cried so hard but stopped as soon as he found out that he was getting stickers AND a sucker! Gail took Beck behind the front desk and gave him the one sucker that he does not like...chocolate! We unwrapped the sucker in the car and he realized that it was chocolate. He tried it but gave it to me before we left the parking lot. Looks like I need to carry suckers around for the next time I need one. I'm so glad this is over with and I'm not looking forward to doing this again next year.

Before we took Kinsey's picture in her crib, Beck told us he wanted to wear Kinsey's bow. Ha!

Then, he wanted to sit in the crib with her! She loves him and he loves her! They are so cute together!

Abuelo's

On Monday, April 18, we celebrated Kinsey being in this world for 10 months...just kidding. Kiki drove to Plano to spend the night at Jeff and Jill's house because they were flying in from Atlanta the next day. Since she was in town, we ate dinner at Abuelo's. Kinsey was playing with the empty chip bowl and we thought it would be funny for the kids to wear the bowl on their head.

It was a fun night out!

New Members!

On Saturday, April 16th, Brent played golf with Pops and Uncle Bill for a charity event. During the kids afternoon nap, Kiki and Marcus picked up Wendy then she picked up Wes at the golf course. They hit the road and met Neena at Cracker Barrel off I-20. Neena took Wendy to her home in Longview then drove back to Henderson. She was on the road for a very long time which she hates so I'm thinking she won't do that again anytime soon. Brent got home around 4 and I just knew he would be too tired to go to the Dallas Zoo but he wasn't.

We received some literature from the Dallas Zoo offering our family several perks if we become new members and the offer was too good to pass up. We get free parking for a year, free admission, free monorail and carousel rides and a sneak peek at the new bird show. The zoo closes at 5pm and the show was at 6:30pm which meant we had the whole park to ourselves. This bird show is the same one that you see at the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park so we were familiar with the "acts". However, these birds were newly trained and some did not cooperate. One bird flew up in the tree and wouldn't come down! They were offering all kinds of food but she was not budging! I think the size of the crowd scared her. Beck sure enjoyed it and I think Kinsey did too.

After the bird show, we learned that we could do anything in the park so we quickly went to the camels because I also had two free camel rides. Nobody was there and Beck jumped on the camel and I got on the camel too. I think I was more nervous than Beck! The guy guiding the camel was really nice and stopped the camel so Brent could get some good photos of us.

We briefly walked around and saw a tiger laying down...Beck told us he was hurt. We saw some kangaroos and ostrich but Beck was begging us to take him back to the kids park. At the kids park, they had a sheep out in the open and I wanted Beck to touch him but he wouldn't.

We also saw two bunnies that weighed approximately 30 pounds each!!! I've never seen a bunny that big before! They also had pigs and a rooster in this barn that's located in the kids park.

The weather was super nice and we sure enjoyed not fighting a lot of people. So far our family membership to the Dallas Zoo is great! We can't wait to go back and ride the monorail!
